Cycladic Identity travels to Antiparos for the Cyclades Cup – Superyacht Regatta
A cultural milestone for the Cycladic Identity Ιnitiative of the Museum of Cycladic Art during the Cyclades Cup.
From June 12–15, the Cyclades Cup – Superyacht Regatta unfolds around Antiparos, bringing together sailors and local communities in a vibrant celebration of nautical excellence and Cycladic culture.
As part of the vibrant atmosphere of this year’s Cyclades Cup, οn the evening of June 13th, the Cycladic Identity Ιnitiative brought together community members, visitors, and cultural experts for a unique celebration of the Cyclades heritage.
The gathering opened with welcoming remarks by Sandra Marinopoulou, President & CEO of the Museum of Cycladic Art, who spoke with warmth about the purpose behind Cycladic Identity and the importance of protecting the essence of the islands.
The evening continued with a talk by Theano Agaloglou, Project Manager of Cycladic Identity, who highlighted the momentum of the initiative and emphasized the growing role local communities play in shaping and sustaining it.
One of the most memorable parts of the evening was the guided tour of the Venetian Castle of Antiparos, led by archaeologist Athanasios Garonis. Guests had the rare chance to hear directly about the recent preservation work of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades carried out at the site and to walk through a space that speaks volumes about the layers of Cycladic history.
It’s worth highlighting that the architectural documentation and surveying study of the Antiparos Castle was made possible thanks to the direct support of the Cycladic Identity initiative that was implemented by the Society for the Protection and Development of Antiparos & Despotiko.
The evening concluded with an open dialogue focusing on the importance of preserving the castle and exploring how it can be meaningfully integrated into the everyday life of Antiparos.
This gathering in Antiparos served as a living example of what Cycladic Identity sets out to do: create space for connections, elevate local voices, and bring the depth and richness of Cycladic culture to the forefront, where it belongs.
