Study of Architectural Documentation/Surveying of Antiparos Castle
ORGANIZATION
PROGRAM DURATION
The program involves the study of architectural documentation and surveying of the Venetian Castle of Antiparos, a significant example of fortified architecture from the Venetian period (13th-16th century). According to traditional archaeological research, the castle was constructed with a central tower and surrounding three-story buildings, forming an enclosed settlement. Recent excavations suggest that the tower may have predated the settlement, which challenges previous assumptions.
The study aims to document these new findings and draft an architectural plan for the morphological and structural restoration of the castle. The goal is to protect and promote the monument, integrate it into the modern social life of Antiparos, and preserve the island’s cultural heritage for future generations.
