We invite you to the Pilot “Dry Stone School”, an action of the program “Recounting and documenting the art of dry-stone walling (xerolithia)” that is being implemented by the Municipal Enterprise for the Environmental Protection, Education and Development of Mykonos (KDEPPAM), with the funding of the Initiative of the Museum of Cycladic Art, Cycladic Identity. The Pilot School will start on Friday 19 April with presentations on the art of dry stone walling and will continue on Saturday 20 April with practical training with the participation of traditional craftsmen and young artisans. The action will be concluded on Sunday 21 April with the screening of the film of Yannis Spiliopoulos “Stone through time, the dry stones of Kythnos”.

The program “Recounting and document the art of dry stone walling (xerolithia)” aims to create an open and continuously updated website for the documentation of dry stone and the traditional way of building them, by combining older, archival material (photos, files, drawings), but also recording the remaining craftsmen (film, sound recording). One of the actions of the program is the pilot “dry stone school” that will take place from 19 April to 21 April with the participation of traditional craftsmen and new artisans.
