Cycladic Identity press conference
The Cycladic Identity launching press conference was held on Tuesday October 3rd at the Museum of Cycladic Art.
Mrs. Marinopoulou, President and CEO of the Museum of Cycladic Art, presented the initiative’s vision, its objectives, the operation mechanism, as well as the nine funded programs currently being implemented. Following this, Dr D. Athanasoulis, Dr M. Boyd, Mr. D. Karavellas and Dr A. Kosmopoulou, members of the initiative’s Scientific Committee, each shared their own experience in the Cyclades, based on their professional work and interaction with the islands, as well as emphasized the need addressed by Cycladic Identity, and the initiative’s value for the present and future of the local communities. For the last part of the presentation, representatives of the funded programs, in particular Ms. Mania Ampatzi, of the “Ancient Marble Quarries of Paros” non-profit organization, Ms. Olga Karayiannis, of the Research Center of Andros and Andros Routes, and Mr. Ilias Prasinos, of the Cultural and Environmental Association of Donoussa, shortly described the programs they are implementing in their islands, covering the three focus areas of Cycladic Identity, i.e. Culture, Biodiversity and Intangible Heritage.
