The program “Digital repository of Sifnian Songs and Carols” has been completed
The Cycladic Identity Initiative program of the Museum of Cycladic Art, titled “Digital repository of Sifnian Songs and Carols”was completed on Sifnos by the Cultural Association of Sifnos.
Dedicated to preserving the island’s rich musical heritage, the program documents key elements of Sifnian culture, including the Traditional Feast, Carols, and Carnival Dances. The repository serves both as a tribute to the past and a valuable resource for the future.
During the presentation of the program to the local community, residents shared stories, personal experiences, and cherished memories—voices that have now been preserved to serve as a bridge between generations.
The Digital Archive is designed as a living, evolving platform. It features a searchable database, supporting documentation, and reference materials for educational and research use. It also encourages public participation: external users are invited to submit content, which is reviewed before being added to the growing collection.
The warm reception from the community highlighted the collective pride and shared commitment to safeguarding Sifnos’s intangible cultural heritage.
